Your Options for Warehouse Pallet Rack Storage

Looking for a new way to store your items in your warehouse? Some spaces may limit you based on available area and more. The items being stored and how they are handled will also have a big influence on storage method.

Here are a few of the options you have to choose between when selecting what type of industrial storage racks to purchase for your warehouse:

Single-Deep Selective Racks

If you have a lot of different SKUs to store – or need to be able to select them quickly – then single-deep storage racks might be a good option for you. These racks are typically used when a high degree of selectivity is required or when users require the flexibility for frequently changing storage needs.

Double-Deep Selective Racks

Double-deep rack is like single-deep selective racks, but two pallet positions deep instead of just one. These are used to allow for a slightly higher storage density of the same SKU. Instead of storing a single pallet of a SKU per pick location, two can now be stored. Double-deep users sacrifice some selectivity in exchange for increased density.

Pallet Flow Racks

Pallet flow racks allow items to be placed and retrieved in a first-in, first out manner. Product is loaded into the rack from the rear of the system, from where gravity moves it forward down a series of pitched tracks. Pallets are picked from the front of the system. When one is removed, the remaining pallets roll forward.

Push Back Racks

Push-back racks, also use gravity to move pallets, however, do so in a last-in first-out manner. These racks are both unloaded and loaded from the front of the system. Pallets are loaded by placing them on an enveloping series of carts that rests on a pitched track. The next pallet loaded is used to push back the prior load to expose the next cart, and so on. To unload, the pallet is removed which allows the rest to roll forward on the carts.

These are just a few of the options out there. If you are still not sure which type of industrial racks to purchase for your facility? Talk to a manufacturer like Frazier about your operation’s needs to find the best possible fit!
